Things to do and see on Sentosa Island Singapore.

Things to do and see on Sentosa Island, Singapore, are Universal Studios, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the Wings of Time Light show plus much more. The Island is the ultimate fun park and it offers many fun things to do and see on Sentosa Island, Singapore. There is something for all ages, from adventure attractions to historical sites with restaurants, shops, cafes and hotels in between. You could spend a week there or one day. I spent a day though I wished I had more time on the Island. I guess I’ll just have to go back. Yay!

Getting to Sentosa Island Singapore.

There are four ways to get to Sentosa Island, MRT, taxi, walk and cable car.

 MRT – Mass Rapid Transport

If you are getting the train (MRT), you take the North-East line or Circle line and get off at the Harbourfront station. Then you can take the Sentosa Express ($4 SGD per person) from the 3rd level of Vivo City shopping mall or walk across the Sentosa Boardwalk.

The trains operates from 7am to 12 midnight.

Taxi

I took a taxi from my hotel in Chinatown to Resort World Sentosa, which is near Universal Studios for $8.50 SGD. Taxis are readily available and fairly cheap.

Walk

You can walk over to Sentosa Island from the VivoCity Shopping Mall waterfront promenade via the Sentosa Boardwalk. The boardwalk has amazing views of the bay and has five tropical garden landscapes along the way, which is the only boardwalk of this kind in South-East Asia. It is free to enter Sentosa Island.

Cable Car

One thing to see and do on Sentosa Island is getting a cable car.

Getting a cable car from Mount Faber to Sentosa Island.

The cable car station is at the Harbourfront Centre and there are signs leading from the Harbourfront MRT station, exit B, to Harbourfront Tower ll. You will see views  of the Singapore city skyline, the harbour and Sentosa Island. It cost $35 SGD for adults and $25 SGD for children. I have been on the cable car a few times in the past with my family, they said it was great, I can’t do heights so I had my eyes closed!

For more information on how to get to Sentosa see the Sentosa official website, http://sentosa.com.sg .

Things to do and see on Sentosa Island Singapore is visit Universal Studios.

Universal Studios Sentosa Island Singapore

Universal Studios are easy to find as everywhere is clearly sign posted, just follow the signs. A day pass is $81 SGD and covers entry fee, all rides, shows, street entertainment and character meet and greets, but not food, drinks or souvenirs. You can get a map and show times schedule from a brochure stand right after you enter through the gates. I recommend doing this and roughly planning your day so you don’t miss any shows, especially if you are only staying one day.

Universal Studios are divided into themes The Lost World, Far Far Away, Sci-Fi City, Hollywood, Madagascar and New York. Each attraction has the queuing time at the entrance and warnings about that ride. Some rides, like the roller coaster, you have to put your belongings into a locker including the things in your pockets. Everywhere is very organised and runs smoothly.

First Stop- New York

Lights, Camera, Action

The thing to do and see is Lights, Camera, Action is a insight into how special effects are used in movies and is explained by Steven Spielberg.

Lights, Camera, Action is all about special effects and I loved it.

A hurricane is about to hit New York City and you are standing in a boat shed watching it all happen right in front of you. I won’t tell you any more because I don’t want to spoil your experience, but I highly recommend seeing this attraction.

Second Stop-  The Lost World

On the way to The Lost World I stopped to say “Hi” to Marilyn Munroe.

Thing to do and see on Sentosa Island Singapore is have a selfie with Marilyn Monroe

If you want a selfie with Marilyn you will need to queue and the queue was quite long, or do what I did and just take her photo from the side.

Waterworld Stunt Show

Thing to see at Sentosa Island is The Waterworld stunt show is amazing.

Be prepared to get wet, very wet … but so much fun.

This action packed show has jet skis, fight scenes, fire explosions, lots of laughs and thrilling stunts. There were so many things happening you didn’t know where to look. After the show you can meet the stuntmen and have a selfie. The show is on twice a day and you need to be there 15 minutes before show time. There was plenty of seating and no queuing. Yay!

Yes, I loved this show and highly recommend it too! It was fantastic!

Third Stop- Far far Away

A thing to do as you enter Far Far Away is see all your favourite childhood characters.

The Far Far Away zone reminded me of Disneyland with the fairy tale castles and characters. The area is beautifully done with a lot of attention to detail, you could spends hours looking at the buildings, statues and decorations. Or you could go see the Shrek 4-D Adventure movie.

One thing to see is Shrek 4d movie with have you falling out of your seat ... literally.

This attraction was very popular and I did have to queue with a lot of other people, was it worth it? Yes definitely, great effects, basic story but it would be difficult to develop a meaningful story in 15 minutes and it is Shrek. You wear your 3D glasses and your chair moves quite a lot and … the rest is a surprise. I enjoyed it.

Donkey Live

The character, Donkey, from the ‘Shrek’ movie, has his own show on a large screen in a theater. The show is interactive with audience participation, a bit like a ‘Wiggles’ show, for young children. It is clever how Donkey on a screen answers the questions from the kids, but it’s not really for adults. The theater was air conditioned and a nice break from the heat outside. If you don’t have small kids miss this one out.

Fourth Stop-  Madagascar

Entrance to Madagascar on Sentosa Isaland at Universal Studios.

A Crate Adventure

A thing to do on Sentosa Island at Universal Studios is a boat designed to look like a crate floats smoothly past Madagascar movie scenes.

A leisurely boat ride through a tunnel past the characters and scenes from the movie “Madagascar”. The attraction sign warns of the boat rocking, stopping quickly, going fast and getting wet, but I didn’t experience any of those things, maybe I missed something!

thing to see are beautiful displays of the characters and scenes from Madagascar the movie.at Universal Studios Sentosa Island Singapore

If you are a fan of the movie you with love this. The characters are very colourful and scenery very detailed, it won’t be the highlight of your day but it is quite enjoyable and a great way to end the day when your feet are aching.

Lunch at Mel’s Diner.

A 1960's Diner for lunch is one thing to do at Universal Studios Sentosa Island

Mel’s Diner, is a great place to stop for lunch or a snack, it’s air conditioned, clean toilets or should I say restrooms, fast service, though not cheap. I paid $15 SGD for a cheeseburger and chips, plus $5 SGD for a large coke in an Universal Studios souvenir cup. (Which I left on the table!).

I spent about 4 hours at Universal Studios and had a great time. I feel I got my money’s worth, even though I didn’t go on any big attractions, like the roller coaster or water slides, I did see 5 different attraction for $81 SGD, about $16 each.  There is something here for everyone.

I think the Singapore Universal Studios are small compared to the Los Angeles Universal Studios and no where near as awesome. If you have been to LA Universal Studios and expecting the same you will be disappointed, if you just want a great day with no expectations Singapore Universal Studios is for you.

For more information you can download the Official Universal Studios Singapore App from the App store, to get maps, wait times and promotions.

Things to see and do on Sentosa Island Singapore is the Madame Tussaud‘s Wax Museum.

things to do and see in sentosa island in madame tussauds museum

Madame Tussauds Wax museum is about a 15 minute walk from Universal Studios, I headed towards the Merlion statue, following the signs to Madame Tussauds and then up 3 escalators and it is at the top.

The museum has 5 different experiences- Images of Singapore Live, Spirit of Singapore boat ride, Ultimate Film Star Experience, Marvel Super Heroes 4D experience and Madame Tussauds (wax people displays).

Images of Singapore Live.

You will be taken on a walking journey, back in time to when Singapore was a fishing village and shown how it became the modern thriving city it is today. The show is actor led through scenery displays and with some audience participation. I have seen this a few times and recommend going early in the morning when there are less crowds of people. If you arrive on Sentosa via the cable car, Madame Tussauds is just a few steps away from the station.

The Images of Singapore is a very cool history lesson not to be missed.

Photos and videos are not permitted.

Spirit of Singapore boat ride.

You end the Images of Singapore show at the Spirit of Singapore boat ride, I didn’t know it was a separate experience until later, as one flows into the other. The short boat ride is a look at Singapore today. It is worth seeing, not that you get a choice.

The boat is easy to get in and out and you get your photo taken for a price. (Of course!)

Singapore hosts F1 car racing.

Merlion the symbol of SingaporeThe Merlion.

The Ultimate Film Star Experience

Dress up like a film star and sing in an Audition.

You can dress up to look like your favourite Indian Film Star and act in an audition, take selfies or make your own movie poster staring yourself. I think this would be fun with a group of people but I felt silly doing this on my own plus I didn’t know the famous Indian actors and singers. It was funny to watch other people.

Marvel Super Heroes 4D Movie

The Marvel Super Heroes 4D movie is about 15 minutes long and has lots of special effects. You don’t have to be a Super Heroes fan, I’m not and I thought it was great.

Madame Tussauds.

Lastly the main attraction is the wax figures of famous movie stars, sportsman, world leaders and singers. The wax figures are so life like they are a bit creepy. Check out the size of Serena Williams hand, it is huge, no wonder she is an awesome tennis player. You can have a selfie with the Queen of England or Audrey Hepburn, plus many more.

My hand is much smaller than Serena'a

You can get a 3D wax mould of your hand, but be careful  because you need to put it straight in a fridge to set and is very fragile.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum entry fee is $49 SGD and this includes all 5 experiences.

They are open daily at 10am and last entry is 7pm.

For more information go to www.madametussauds.com/singapore.

Things to see and do on Sentosa Island Singapore is the Wings of Time Night Show.

Next stop was the Wings of Time night show, but first you need to get a ticket from the Ticketing Counter, just outside Madame Tussauds. There are 2 shows each night, 7.40pm and 8.40pm and I went to the 7.40pm show.

The tickets are $23 SGD for premium seats ( a plastic chair on the beach) or $19 SGD for a standard seat ( a wooden bench on the beach) I went crazy and got a premium seat. I latter found out the premium seats are also in middle.

You also get discount vouchers for near by restaurants and gift shop, but  I didn’t use mine ( restaurants were too expensive even with a discount).

The show is at Siloso Beach and to get there I went on the Sentosa Express monorail. The monorail is free on the Island and stops at the Cable car station, Universal Studios, Beach Station and Resort World. I got on at the Cable car station and off at the Beach Station.

Sentosa Express Monorail

There are a number of places to eat at Siloso Beach and they are all very clean with free wi-fi and toilets.

things to do and see on Sentosa is the wings of time night show.

At first I was surprised as you are literally just sitting on a beach, not the usual Singapore slick environment, but then the show starts and OMG, I was too scared to blink as I didn’t want to miss a second.

Wings of Time laser light show.

Wow!!  What a brilliant show!

It was the perfect end to my day on Sentosa Island.

Siloso Beach and Siloso Point have lots of adventure actives (for adrenalin junkies).
  • ifly Singapore- indoor skydiving in a wind tunnel.
  • Gogreen Segway.
  • Skyline Luge
  • Rock Climbing
  • Bungee jumping
  • Water- Propelled Jet Pack.
